  • 6.5X284

I have a 6.5X284 MOA rifle and shoot it a lot, it has just over 1035 rounds shot out, I have been told by some that it may only last for 1200 to 2000 rounds??

I have had a good gun smith look at it and he said he could not see any ware as yet, and I'm still getting just under 1/2" 5 shot groups so how many should I get about??

This is a great topic and thanks for bringing it up! We have always said that most properly barreled 6.5-284's will shoot towards 2000 rounds before losing accuracy. In fact we have some rifles that have that many rounds through them and are still shooting well. This is a topic that drives home the rule we practice in our shooting school "never theorize, just test" meaning let the writers write and the shooters shoot, let the facts stand where they may! I would keep on shooting and check it again around 1500 rounds and then again at 2000 rounds!

    Thanks for the message!
